It's All About the Little Things

As I sit here with my husband and boys watching the end of COPA America 2024, I am overwhelmed by all the little things that add up to a pretty wonderful life! So often these little things go unnoticed. Even more often for me, they are an irritant. Right now, in this moment, I'm choosing to see these things as evidence of a pretty wonderful life!
The light pouring in the front window causing a glare on the tv and reflecting brightly off the white walls. My first response is to shut the drapes because of the glare and brightness. Instead I can see it as evidence that the sun is still shining late into the evening and it was a beautifully hot day!
Looking out said window I'm seeing the dirt staring back at me, reminding me that I should clean it instead of write this blog. Yet right now it's evidence that I have a super sweet, friendly Goldendoodle named Clover that cannot help herself! She loves to see the comings and goings of anyone and everyone. She looks out that window with her nose to the glass saying hello and goodbye to all of our guests.
Speaking of coming and going, my boys have been coming in and out of the house all day long! We don't have a great landscaped front yard yet (another "thing" for another day) so every time they come in they bring part of our front "yard" with them. Right now the front entry has a pretty thick layer of dirt which is covered up nicely with EVERYONE's shoes. I know we didn't wear all those shoes today, but yet there they are laying right in front of the door making it super inconvenient for people to use the door. Which brings me to my perspective today! All the dirt and the shoes and the blockage at the front door is evidence that my children have been outside today! Evidence that we are way too busy having fun to care about putting our shoes where they actually belong! Evidence that we are enjoying our summer to the fullest and not worrying about the little things, but instead finding the joy in them!

Thanks for sharing such a great perspective. Anything similar in my life might be weeds in my garden, but that means it's summer and I even HAVE a garden! It could also be putting together a jigsaw puzzle and finding out that I'm missing one last piece--admittedly, it's aggravating, but I CAN be thankful that I have a sister and brother who freely loan me puzzles, and I get to relax for a couple of hours while my husband and I watch a Mariners game! ☺️
